Christmas Fun and Chaos

Is it sad I am somewhat relieved and disappointed that Christmas is over? I love the tree's, the lights, the buying the perfect gift, the joy in children's eyes and the spirit around us. Christmas with a toddler though (the actual day) can be exhausting! It is so exciting while they open presents, and woo and ahh, and then it is like they are given speed. The hyper chaos begins! Of course your traveling around to your families' houses, which only intensifies the chaos. You find yourself with a look of surprise for most of the day out of amazement and fear of the meltdown. Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas and I am thankful for everyone and everything. I am just trying to write the "true" run through of the day of Christmas with a toddler. I guess you would say this is the first year our daughter, got it and understand what was going on and that presents were involved. However like all toddlers, when they get wound up, they tend not to eat anything (of course except for cookies and sugar), and when it is time to leave or put something away the meltdown occurs. I found myself more exhausted than ever on Christmas day. On the plus side, it was priceless watching my daughter's enjoyment. It was so beautiful and as my daughter likes to say, "magical". I didn't care if I got anything, I would much rather sit back and just feed of her excitement and joy. I hope everyone else had a great one too! However next year I will be more prepared for how to handle the holidays in a calmer manner (if that is even possible! lol)
