My daughter is on Nutramgen because no other formula would work with her tummy. She also had reflux issues, so once we got on the Prevacid and the Nutramagen was working, we stuck with it because she was finally content. Today, I decided to try and switch her to soy because we didn't think she needed the Nutramagen since we thought it was more of a reflux issue. I gave her one soy bottle this morning, and about a hr and half later she began to violently throw up. I mean it was scary cause it was coming out so fast she was choking. This continued for an hour or more and we finally took her to the doctor. We figured out she was having an allergic reaction to soy. She continued to throw up all day and we were instructed to give her pedialite...which she did not care for. She slept all day lying on mommy or daddy and was so miserable. I finally decided to give her a bath and she perked up a lot! She ate a normal bottle and is now happy. I can't begin to tell you what a bad day today has been. I felt so horrible seeing her so sick, it made me so scared and so upset. I am praying this nightmare day is over and she will be good from here on out. Monday she gets blood tests for food allergies, so I am curious to see what she is allergic to. Anyway...on top of all of this I had a run in with my sister in law.
She decided that she would criticize the way our pediatrician handled anything and everything and told us how we were risking her life by going to this doctor. On top of all this the conversation got worse and worse and ended badly. A once non existent relationship with her is now again non existent once again. It is a shame that people cannot be compassionate and keep their opinions to themselves or a minimum at least. No one is a perfect parent and every doctor is different. By the way, I love our doctor, he is the best. I just pray tomorrow is a better day....and I pray that certain people can learn how to be kind and hold their tongues.

It's probably the soy. I was violently allergic to it as a child, and I was also on Nutramagen. It sounds like me & Irelyn would get along. By the way, don't let anyone criticize the way you raise your child. That's one of the things I fear most about having children. You do what you think is best, & screw everyone else!
