Aunts and Uncles? The roles they play in our children's lives

I always think about my daughter and her relationships with her family members. She is naturally very close with my parents because they watch her three days a week, and not to mention they have been in her daily life since she was in my belly. My brother is her godfather and my sister in law is an amazing Aunt because she has four amazing children of her own. I have many aunts and uncles since my parents came from families with five children. My daughter's other grandparents are also amazing people, and have been so wonderful to her since she was born. They constantly step up without reservation to babysit or help out whenever the opportunity arises and she also adores them. My husband has two younger sisters, and one who does not live in this area. Unfortunately due to past experiences I am confident my daughter will not have a relationship with her one aunt, and as for the other, she is finishing up college. I personally have two nieces and two nephews through my brother. I adore each one of them because they are amazing children. Each one is unique in personality which makes them more special. I adore spending time with them and letting them know my love for them. I recently stumbled across an article which truly opened my eyes about relationships beyond parents and grandparents.
I feel strongly about the relationship between aunts and uncles with their nieces and nephews. I think later on in life it plays a stronger role, but it initiates when they are young. The article is called "Getting Involved with Your Nieces and Nephews" and it highlights why it is important. I have six aunts and six uncles, and I am closer with some than others, and I truly regret that in my life. Just some food for thought
