The one miracle the Vatican has overlooked

"For two people in a marriage to live together day after day is unquestionably the one miracle the Vatican has overlooked."- Bill Cosby

Does this quote not say it all? I mean seriously, marriage takes a lot of work, and much more than you truly believe when your growing up or even getting engaged. I had this picture perfect marriage in my head with my husband acting exactly like my father (who is one of my hero's), and life being full of smiles and romance. Well....those things exist within a marriage, but they definitely do not define marriage. I guess it runs into the misconceptions everyone has about life. Life is not suppose to be easy, and it never will be. We may have wonderful moments without stress and full of miracles and happiness, but reality remains quiet in the background. We change so much throughout our lives, which is much more than I anticipated, even for myself. How is it possible to keep up without being crazy and stressed out of your mind in the process?

My mom always told me when you see a couple all over one another in public, making everyone else feel like their relationship must be shit compared to "them", never seem to last. I have first hand knowledge of this that verifies this statement. I am not saying it is always true. I feel like each morning I wake up and think, "OK God what is in store for today? Should I try and relax all morning for a crazy afternoon? Do I need to put on my game face?". Can you tell I have had a stressful day? ha ha.

  1. I don't believe the Vatican determines miracles, then again - I'm not catholic. However, I will agree it takes nothing SHORT of a miracle for two people to make things work.

As for the two people all over each other in public - how do you know that isn't just one of the good times? And the sentiment that relationships must be compared is in YOUR head, not theirs LOL I am not a big PDA person, but my thoughts (when in a relationship) to hug and kiss in public has nothing to do with anyone but the person I'm hugging or kissing HAHA
