The Struggle

The PA unemployment rate, and the government decisions on what to do are not the complete “story”. The real stories are those suffering in our community. Throughout Chester County many families are drowning in debt and worry. Their lives are being torn apart and they have been forced to sell everything and turn to family to grovel for aid. The families are everyone from the individuals making six figures, to your middle or low income families. Unemployment is a way to help keep food on the table and possibly sustain some living expenses, but it certainly does not sustain a family. Those who are battling through these hard times, many don’t even qualify for government assistant or food stamps. I am one of the many who are also unemployed, and along with the rest of our community and world, I apply to over twenty jobs a day. They span from everywhere from my earned degree to any other job in which I have the qualifications. Everyone is applying for every job, which floods our local community employers in the decision making process. However, how is everyone supposed to bounce back from economic hardship without a job? In this age of amazing technology, social networking is still on the rise, and such helpful networking sites like Linked In help you network through friends and past co-workers. The only problems with these sites are that many of the people in our community to do not belong or ever utilize the site to help others. If you have job and have not been affected by the recession then why can’t you lend a helping hand to everyone else? One network connection can create a bridge between someone in need and their future employer. Our community is suffering and although there are many who try and help or aid others, they are not enough. The real story is sad and tragic, and it is your next door neighbor, your friends, and the members of our community.
