My opinions on the show as a whole is pretty undecided. As I stated before, I am not a fan of reality TV or MTV (since its all about reality TV instead of music as it use to be). I think the show doesn't show how hard it is to be a mother or a parent. I do think it outlines how much the girl's lives have changed, which is important. However, I think there is unnecessary drama with some of the girls that is ridiculous. I wonder if anyone else has any thoughts on this show?

Thoughts about MTV's Teen Mom
When I was pregnant, I was subjected to lying around on the couch in pregnancy pain and channel surfing. I despise reality TV shows, but I watched MTV's "16 and Pregnant", and now they followed up with Teen Mom. I don't follow the series, except for an occasional episode when nothing else is on TV. However, I don't care for many of the girls except Catelynn's story and experience. If you have never seen it, she is a young girl who decided not to have an abortion but to give her daughter up for adoption. I am very pro life so I was very pleased to see this aired on MTV, since it is a wonderful example for teens who get pregnant. I think her story is amazing, and tonight I turned on Teen Mom, and Catelynn was attending a retreat for birth mom's. It was a weekend away with other mothers who gave up their children for adoption. I am touched by her effort to help herself while she copes with the upsets of giving up her child. I never knew they had a birth mom's retreat and I think it is wonderful. I think adoption is the best answer to an unexpected pregnancy, and I really have enjoyed watching her story.

I've never seen it but it sounds quite interesting. I've also never heard of a retreat for birth mothers, but it sounds quite useful and very healthy. I'd think something like that would be incredibly valuable if you went through something as traumatic as giving up your child for adoption.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the cute pictures of Irelyn! She's really getting gorgeous!
