We recently introduced rice cereal to my baby girl. She already has it in her bottle due to her reflux issues, but she really likes eating it. Today, after the advice from a mommy friend, I put a tsp of stage 1 applesauce into it. It was hilarious because her face was priceless. She acted as if it was the most awful thing with the look on her face. She did eat it though, but this process is confusing. I know she needs the supplements in her formula more than solid food, but I think I am going to have to give her the bottle and then try and feed her the cereal. Our feeding schedule has been thrown off since the cereal. She doesn't want a lot of the bottle anymore, and sporadically eats throughout the day. It is definitely a new experience for this new mommy. I am not sure what the best way is to do this. I am going to now give her the bottle then the cereal after to ensure she gets all her vitamins, etc from her formula. The thing is that her formula is so expensive, I mix the cereal in with water. It is fun though watching her first start to eat! It is so entertaining for her, she thinks the spoon is a toy. I try and push it back in her mouth so its not on her tongue. She doesn't spit too much out, so it has been a success! It is just confusing finding the right way that works for her. I am so excited for this phase in her life because she is so animated and happy. I love watching her find her feet and laugh and giggle. It is just so amazing how much she has changed and grown in 4 1/2 months. It almost makes me so to see her grow up but so nice at the same time. I feel like my husband connects with her more because she can now laugh and react to things. Also she is more content and can play by herself, which gives mommy some more free moments. I love being a mom!

When I first learned how to give food to Morgan both the lactation consultant and the ped. said to feed the bottle then give the food b/c the food is the extra "free-bee" whereas the bottle (or boob in my case) was the most important part! So I would suggest giving her her bottle then trying a food... b/c she won't eat much of the food anyway... most of it will dribble down her chin and be wiped away by Mommy with the bib or a rag! :) It is so fun to watch the faces that come across!! :) See you Sat! Can't wait!
